News Corp. Cancels O.J. Simpson Book, TV Special

NEWS ALERT from The Wall Street Journal...

News Corp. canceled publication of O.J. Simpson’s book “If I Did It” and the Fox television network broadcast special, with Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch apologizing for the project. A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special.

Okay, now things are getting strange. Now the Fox Network has standards? This is completely out of character for Fox. Losing a potential ratings success simply for the benefit of decorum and good taste? Someone has definitely dropped the ball. Rupert apologizing? How soft can he go? What’s he going to do next, replace the spouting heads at Fox News with “journalists”? Who might report “news”? OK, that’s asking a little much.
