Hold Souder Accountable

Four years ago, during his campaign for congress in 2002, Mark Souder proudly expressed his support for going to war with Iraq, claiming that he had reviewed classified evidence demonstrating the dire risks we faced if we chose to not immediately invade. As we now know, no such evidence ever existed.

Was he being disingenuous? Was he unable to accurately judge the quality of evidence he was supposedly presented? At this point, it doesn’t matter. Either way, he must never again be entrusted as our representative in Congress.

Clearly, from Monday’s front-page puff piece on Mr. Souder in the Warsaw Times-Union, our local media has decided to shirk any responsibility they once held for holding our officials responsible for their actions. But, thankfully, in our republic, we, the people, still have the opportunity to hold them accountable on election day.
