The Strokes in Muncie, IN

I took my nephew to see The Strokes last night at Emens Auditorium on the campus of Ball State. We had a good time, but I was a little too close to the PA for my own good. Our third row seats did give us prime vistas for checking out Julian’s gold chain, which was surprisingly retro-fly.

Their performance was much tighter than when I saw them in indy a year ago, which makes sense, considering that they have not released any new material in the interim. Still the last 25% of the show started to get a little sloppy, with a glitchy microphone marring the sound for the encore.

The highlight was their rendition of Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side”—it’s a little obvious for an NYC band, but they played it well enough to make up for that.
